Wilma Messing Library

On April 20, 2001, Synergy School proudly dedicated the Wilma Messing Library. Wilma Messing was a committed supporter of Synergy School for many years and was also the mother of co-founder Russ Messing. The mission of the Library is to promote literacy, foster love of reading, support the school's curriculum, and create a place where inquisitive young minds feel welcome to explore.

Library Collection

The Wilma Messing Library contains a select collection of picture books, limited vocabulary "easy readers," fiction, teen fiction, periodicals, books on tape, videos, as well as non-fiction and reference books for research and information. Library books are collected with the full spectrum of students' ages and abilities in mind. The library also subscribes to age-appropriate educational and recreational magazines.

See what we have in our collection by browsing our on-line catalog.

There is also a Parents’ reference shelf with materials on parenting, child development, and learning. Students may check out books for two-week periods. Parents may check out books on their student’s account or may ask for their own account.

Library Facts

The Wilma Messing Library is staffed by a part-time librarian, Carolyn Karis, and a dedicated group of parents. It contains approximately 7000 titles. Committee members acquire, catalog, shelve library books and magazines, and work with classes at Synergy to help children find information and learn research skills. Friends of the committee also help make the library and its collection attractive and accessible to the entire Synergy community.
