Spring Concert

Please join us for our next all-school spring concert on March 29, 2012, 7:00pm at the Herbst Theatre. Invite family members and friends as there is plenty of comfortable seating. Below are details about concert and on site rehearsal. If you are a Synergy old-timer, you can scan this quickly for the info pertinent to your family. If you are a newcomer, you will need to read more carefully.

Note: This is an all-school, evening event, off site. Every student in every class participates.

Time & Place

Thursday, March 29, 2012, Herbst Theatre, in the War Memorial Building San Francisco Civic Center, Van Ness at McAllister.

• 6:30 p.m. doors open for seating
• 6:45 p.m. call time for performers
• 7:00 p.m. performance (usually ends by 9:30).

Parking

Civic Center Garage is under the plaza, entrance on McAllister between Polk and Larkin. The Performing Arts Garage entrances are on Grove between Franklin and Gough and on Gough between Fulton and Grove. You may be able to find street parking.

Transit

Three and a half blocks from Civic Center BART; three blocks from Van Ness MUNI underground station; on the numbers 47, 49, and 5 lines.

Who Performs in the Concert?

Everyone! This is part of the performing arts curriculum. We don’t have tests, homework, and final exams, but we do have performances.

Ways You Can Help

• The easiest way: send your kids to school so they can be present for music class rehearsals.
• Loading in at 8:00 a.m. at Herbst on Wednesday April 13: 2-3 adults comfortable with light to moderate lifting and carrying. Be there at 8:00. Done by 8:30.
• Adult ushers to arrive at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, April 14, meet with Herbst’s head usher, supervise kid ushers handing out programs, and help fill in seating: 4 adults (and you can pick your own seat before doors open)
• Loading out after the show. Carolyn Kruse, Rea Inglesis, and Jana Barber know how to pack up and will supervise so that instruments are broken down and packed safely and logically.
• Check with classroom teachers’ needs about transit to on-site rehearsals April 13-14. Some want car transport, others public.

Rehearsals at Herbst

Wednesday and Thursday, April 13–14, are the days that each class has one time to block and run its performance on the stage. This rehearsal is essential, so please put it on your calendar. In case of illness on the rehearsal/performance day(s), please keep me posted by contacting Deirdre or the relevant classroom teacher. (I am off site on these days and will not get messages on my extension.)
