Synergy Fall Fundraiser
All Synergy families are required to participate in this Community Building Event, which is held each fall and is organized by a committee of approximately 15 Synergy families. Instead of hiking or running in a marathon, we solicit pledges to support our volunteering efforts. Over the years, the event has evolved into families participating in community service work together. In this way, students are learning about the value of doing good works, building community together and simultaneously raising funds for Synergy. Each family collects pledges of $200 or more.
In 2005, in an effort to bring a greater sense of community to our fundraiser, we held one big event at The San Francisco Zoo on Sunday, November 6th from 8-11am. Attendance was the best ever. The ice plant picking as a large group was fun, and a good workout to boot for parents! The parents of the smaller children felt that the sand-cleaning project was age appropriate. Following our volunteer work, we celebrated with a Pizza Party on the Zoo grounds. At the end of the day parents and children were happy and the Zoo had cleaner sand and fewer ice plants.
